Firstly, it is pointed out that some distinctive features of the homosocial community can be seen both in the relationship between the characters and the narrative style in the novel. Then, it is suggested that the homosocial triangle shown by Sedgwick can also be seen in the emotion of the novel’s protagonist, Jake Barnes, and this story shows a writer’s emotion for expressing the indescribable passion, the respectable, by the art of writing, the disrespectable.
